![]() ![]() ![]() Tech support tickets can be slow to get answered (a day or so) at times, but usually are much quicker. AirVPN allow you to forward loads of ports, and you can not only choose what they are but set reverse DNS and local port remapping (for example forward port 7890 through the VPN to local port 80 for a web server).ĪirVPN also have a good forum full of savvy users and Staff willing to help out. VPN.ac don't allow forwarding as they feel it insecure. They just generate one for you and display it when you connect. Their app is fairly primitive also.įor port forwarding (handy for torrents etc) PIA offer one single port and you can't choose what it is. I found their speeds to be much more variable than the other two (I get 160Mbps without VPN), so that might be a consideration. VPN.ac are another nice VPN in as much as they have a good attitude and no logs policy. This means you can connect to a server in (for example) Sweden but iPlayer UK will work, and so will Netflix or Hulu (US) all on the same server. AirVPN have the added bonus of transparent DNS geolocation. Their app (Eddie) looks like a 90s program, but it's very fully featured, completely open source (unlike PIA) and will lock down your system tight against leaks (DNS, IPv6 etc). It's a bit of a pain because you can't watch iPlayer when connected to NL, but you can't torrent on UK nodes (for example). They are a bit restrictive, in that you can only torrent from a few servers (eg Netherlands) and any attempt to torrent on other nodes just gets your traffic routed to NL anyway. PIA have a lot of server endpoints, BUT their app is pretty crappy on Windows, not much better on Mac, and all but useless on Linux. A new IP address, the one that you chose, should appear.Īs you can see, this is the IP address of a NordVPN server, which means that qBittorrent is downloading files through a NordVPN proxy, ensuring your downloads are hidden and secured. If privacy is important to you (no logging, not getting ratted out for torrenting etc) then any of the three recommended above will be decent.
